1:1 ซีโมนเปโตร ผู้รับใช้และอัครสาวกของพระเยซูคริสต์ เรียน ท่านทั้งหลายที่ได้รับความเชื่ออันประเสริฐอย่างเดียวกันกับเรา โดยความชอบธรรมของพระเจ้าและพระเยซูคริสต์พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเราทั้งหลาย
1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
1:2 ขอพระคุณและสันติสุขจงเพิ่มพูนแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย โดยรู้จักพระเจ้าและพระเยซูองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
1:3 ด้วยเห็นแล้วว่าฤทธิ์เดชอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของพระองค์ ได้ให้สิ่งสารพัดแก่เราที่จะให้มีชีวิตและทางที่เป็นอย่างพระเจ้า โดยรู้จักพระองค์ผู้ได้ทรงเรียกเราให้ถึงสง่าราศีและคุณธรรม
1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 ด้วยเหตุเหล่านี้พระองค์จึงได้ทรงประทานพระสัญญาอันประเสริฐและใหญ่ยิ่งแก่เรา เพื่อว่าด้วยพระสัญญาเหล่านี้ ท่านทั้งหลายจะพ้นจากความเสื่อมโทรมที่มีอยู่ในโลกนี้เพราะตัณหา และจะได้รับส่วนในสภาพของพระองค์
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1:5 เพราะเหตุนี้เองท่านจงอุตส่าห์จนสุดกำลังที่จะเอาคุณธรรมเพิ่มความเชื่อ เอาความรู้เพิ่มคุณธรรม
1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
1:6 เอาความเหนี่ยวรั้งตนเพิ่มความรู้ เอาความอดทนเพิ่มความเหนี่ยวรั้งตน เอาการที่เป็นอย่างพระเจ้าเพิ่มความอดทน
1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
1:7 เอาความรักฉันพี่น้องเพิ่มการที่เป็นอย่างพระเจ้า และเอาความรักคนทั่วไปเพิ่มความรักฉันพี่น้อง
1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
1:8 เพราะถ้ามีใจอย่างนั้นอยู่ในท่านทั้งหลายพร้อมบริบูรณ์แล้ว ก็จะกระทำให้ท่านไม่เกียจคร้านหรือไร้ผลในความรู้แห่งพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:9 เพราะว่าผู้ใดที่ขาดสิ่งเหล่านี้ก็เป็นคนตาบอดตาสั้น และลืมไปว่าตนได้รับการชำระจากความผิดบาปเมื่อก่อนนั้นเสียแล้ว
1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
1:10 เพราะฉะนั้น พี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงยิ่งอุตส่าห์กระทำตนให้เป็นไปตามที่พระเจ้าทรงเรียก และทรงเลือกท่านไว้แล้วนั้น เพราะว่าถ้าท่านประพฤติเช่นนั้น ท่านจะไม่สะดุดล้มเลย
1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
1:11 ด้วยว่าอย่างนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจะมีสิทธิสมบูรณ์ที่จะเข้าในอาณาจักรนิรันดร์ของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา
1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1:12 เหตุฉะนั้น ถึงแม้ว่าท่านจะรู้และตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ในความจริงที่ท่านรับแล้วนั้นก็ดี ข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่ละเลยที่จะเตือนสติท่านทั้งหลายเสมอให้ระลึกถึงสิ่งเหล่านี้
1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
1:13 ตราบใดที่ข้าพเจ้ายังอาศัยอยู่ในพลับพลานี้ ข้าพเจ้าเห็นสมควรที่จะเตือนสติท่านทั้งหลายให้ระลึกถึงข้อความเหล่านี้
1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
1:14 เพราะข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่า อีกไม่ช้าข้าพเจ้าก็จะต้องสละทิ้งพลับพลาของข้าพเจ้าไป ดังที่พระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ข้าพเจ้าแล้ว
1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
1:15 ยิ่งกว่านั้นข้าพเจ้าจะอุตส่าห์กระทำให้ท่านทั้งหลายระลึกถึงสิ่งเหล่านี้เสมอเมื่อข้าพเจ้าตายแล้ว
1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
1:16 เพราะว่าเมื่อเราได้สำแดงให้ท่านทั้งหลายทราบถึงฤทธิ์เดชของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา และการที่พระองค์จะเสด็จมานั้น เราไม่ได้คล้อยตามนิยายที่เขาคิดแต่งไว้ด้วยความเฉลียวฉลาด แต่เราได้เห็นอานุภาพของพระองค์ด้วยตาของเราเอง
1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
1:17 เพราะว่าคราวเมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงรับเกียรติและสง่าราศีจากพระเจ้าพระบิดา เมื่อพระสุรเสียงจากสง่าราศีอันยิ่งใหญ่ได้มาถึงพระองค์ ตรัสแก่พระองค์ว่า "ท่านผู้นี้เป็นบุตรที่รักของเรา เราชอบใจท่านผู้นี้มาก"
1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1:18 และเราก็ได้ยินพระสุรเสียงนี้มาจากสวรรค์ ในครั้งที่เราได้อยู่กับพระองค์ที่ภูเขาอันบริสุทธิ์นั้น
1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
1:19 และเรามีคำพยากรณ์ที่แน่นอนยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก จะเป็นการดีถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะถือตามคำนั้น เสมือนแสงประทีปที่ส่องสว่างในที่มืด จนกว่าแสงอรุณจะขึ้น และดาวประจำรุ่งจะผุดขึ้นในใจของท่านทั้งหลาย
1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
1:20 จงรู้ข้อนี้ก่อน คือว่าคำพยากรณ์ทุกคำที่จารึกไว้ในพระคัมภีร์แล้ว ไม่มีใครตีความได้ตามลำพังใจของตนเอง
1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
1:21 ด้วยว่าคำพยากรณ์ในอดีตนั้นไม่ได้มาจากความประสงค์ของมนุษย์ แต่พวกผู้บริสุทธิ์ของพระเจ้าได้กล่าวคำตามที่พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ได้ทรงดลใจเขา
1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
