9:1 ข้าพเจ้าพูดตามความจริงในพระคริสต์ ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้มุสา ใจสำนึกผิดชอบของข้าพเจ้าเป็นพยานฝ่ายข้าพเจ้าโดยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ด้วย
9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
9:2 ว่า ข้าพเจ้ามีความทุกข์หนักและเสียใจเสมอมิได้ขาด
9:2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
9:3 เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาจะให้ข้าพเจ้าเองถูกสาปให้ตัดขาดจากพระคริสต์ เพราะเห็นแก่พี่น้องของข้าพเจ้า คือญาติของข้าพเจ้าตามเนื้อหนัง
9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
9:4 พวกเขาเป็นคนอิสราเอล ได้รับการทรงให้เป็นบุตรของพระเจ้าและสง่าราศี และบรรดาพันธสัญญา และการทรงประทานพระราชบัญญัติ และการปรนนิบัติพระเจ้าและพระสัญญาทั้งหลาย
9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
9:5 ทั้งบรรพบุรุษก็เป็นของเขาด้วย และพระคริสต์ก็ได้ทรงถือกำเนิดตามเนื้อหนังในเชื้อชาติของเขา พระองค์ผู้ทรงอยู่เหนือสารพัด ผู้ซึ่งพระเจ้าจะทรงโปรดอวยพระพรเป็นนิตย์ เอเมน
9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
9:6 แต่มิใช่ว่าพระวจนะของพระเจ้าได้ไร้ประโยชน์ไป เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายที่เกิดมาจากอิสราเอลนั้นหาได้เป็นคนอิสราเอลแท้ทุกคนไม่
9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
9:7 และมิใช่ว่าทุกคนที่เป็นเชื้อสายของอับราฮัมเป็นบุตรแท้ของท่าน แต่ว่า `เขาจะเรียกเชื้อสายของเจ้าทางสายอิสอัค'
9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
9:8 คือว่าเขาเหล่านั้นที่เป็นบุตรตามเนื้อหนังจะนับเป็นบุตรของพระเจ้าไม่ได้ แต่บุตรแห่งพระสัญญานั้นจึงจะนับเป็นเชื้อสายได้
9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9:9 เพราะพระวจนะแห่งพระสัญญามีว่าดังนี้ `คราวนี้เราจะมาและนางซาราห์จะมีบุตรชาย'
9:9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
9:10 และมิใช่เท่านั้น แต่ว่านางเรเบคาห์ก็ได้มีครรภ์กับชายคนหนึ่งด้วย คืออิสอัคบรรพบุรุษของเรา
9:10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
9:11 (แม้ก่อนบุตรนั้นบังเกิดมา และยังไม่ได้กระทำดีหรือชั่ว เพื่อพระดำริของพระเจ้าในการทรงเลือกนั้นจะตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ ไม่ใช่ตามการกระทำ แต่ตามซึ่งพระองค์ทรงเรียก)
9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
9:12 พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่นางนั้นว่า `พี่จะปรนนิบัติน้อง'
9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
9:13 ตามที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `เราก็ยังรักยาโคบ แต่เราได้เกลียดเอซาว'
9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
9:14 ถ้าเช่นนั้นเราจะว่าอย่างไร พระเจ้าไม่ทรงยุติธรรมหรือ ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย
9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
9:15 เพราะพระองค์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า `เราประสงค์จะกรุณาผู้ใด เราก็จะกรุณาผู้นั้น และเราประสงค์จะเมตตาผู้ใด เราก็จะเมตตาผู้นั้น'
9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
9:16 เพราะฉะนั้นจึงไม่ขึ้นแก่ความตั้งใจหรือการตะเกียกตะกายของเขา แต่ขึ้นอยู่กับพระเจ้าผู้ทรงสำแดงพระกรุณา
9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
9:17 เพราะมีข้อพระคัมภีร์ที่กล่าวแก่ฟาโรห์ว่า `เพราะเหตุนี้เองเราให้เจ้ามีตำแหน่งสูง ก็เพื่อจะแสดงฤทธานุภาพของเราโดยเจ้าและเพื่อให้นามของเราถูกประกาศออกไปทั่วโลก'
9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
9:18 เหตุฉะนั้นพระองค์จะทรงพระกรุณาแก่ผู้ใด ก็จะทรงพระกรุณาผู้นั้น และพระองค์จะทรงให้ผู้ใดมีใจแข็งกระด้าง ก็จะทรงให้ผู้นั้นมีใจแข็งกระด้าง
9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
9:19 แล้วท่านก็จะกล่าวแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "ถ้าเช่นนั้น ทำไมพระองค์จึงยังทรงติเตียน เพราะว่าผู้ใดจะขัดขืนพระทัยของพระองค์ได้"
9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
9:20 โอ มนุษย์เอ๋ย ดูก่อน ท่านคือผู้ใดเล่าซึ่งท่านจะโต้ตอบกับพระเจ้าได้ สิ่งซึ่งถูกทำขึ้นแล้วนั้นจะกลับว่าแก่ผู้ทำได้หรือว่า "ท่านได้กระทำข้าพเจ้าอย่างนี้ทำไม"
9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
9:21 ส่วนช่างปั้นหม้อ ไม่มีสิทธิ์ที่จะเอาดินก้อนเดียวกันมาปั้นเป็นภาชนะอันมีเกียรติอันหนึ่ง และภาชนะอันไม่มีเกียรติอันหนึ่งหรือ
9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
9:22 แล้วถ้าโดยทรงประสงค์จะสำแดงการลงพระอาชญา และทรงให้ฤทธิ์เดชของพระองค์ปรากฏ พระเจ้าได้ทรงอดกลั้นพระทัยไว้ช้านานต่อผู้เหล่านั้น ที่เป็นภาชนะอันสมควรแก่พระอาชญา ซึ่งเตรียมไว้สำหรับความพินาศ
9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
9:23 เพื่อจะได้ทรงสำแดงสง่าราศีอันอุดมของพระองค์แก่บรรดาผู้ที่เป็นภาชนะแห่งพระเมตตา ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงจัดเตรียมไว้ก่อนให้สมกับสง่าราศี
9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
9:24 คือเราทั้งหลายที่พระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกมาแล้ว มิใช่จากยิวพวกเดียว แต่จากพวกต่างชาติด้วย
9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
9:25 ดังที่พระองค์ตรัสไว้ในพระคัมภีร์โฮเชยาว่า `เราจะเรียกเขาเหล่านั้นว่าเป็นชนชาติของเรา ซึ่งเมื่อก่อนเขาหาได้เป็นชนชาติของเราไม่ และจะเรียกเขาว่าเป็นที่รัก ซึ่งเมื่อก่อนเขาหาได้เป็นที่รักไม่
9:25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
9:26 และต่อมาในสถานที่ซึ่งทรงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า "เจ้าทั้งหลายไม่ใช่ชนชาติของเรา" ในที่นั้นเองเขาจะได้ชื่อว่า เป็นบุตรของพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์อยู่'
9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
9:27 และท่านอิสยาห์ได้ร้องประกาศเรื่องพวกอิสราเอลด้วยว่า `แม้พวกลูกอิสราเอลจะมากเหมือนเม็ดทรายที่ทะเล แต่คนที่เหลืออยู่เท่านั้นจะรอด
9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
9:28 ด้วยว่าพระองค์จะทรงให้การนั้นสำเร็จ และจะให้สำเร็จโดยเร็วพลันในความชอบธรรม เพราะว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงให้การนั้นสำเร็จโดยเร็วพลันบนพิภพนี้'
9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
9:29 และตามที่ท่านอิสยาห์ได้กล่าวไว้ก่อนว่า `ถ้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งจอมโยธามิได้ทรงเหลือเชื้อสายไว้ให้เราบ้าง เราก็จะได้เป็นเหมือนเมืองโสโดม และจะเป็นเหมือนเมืองโกโมราห์'
9:29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
9:30 ถ้าเช่นนั้นเราจะว่าอย่างไร จะว่าพวกต่างชาติที่ไม่ได้ใฝ่หาความชอบธรรม ก็ยังได้รับความชอบธรรมคือความชอบธรรมที่เกิดขึ้นโดยความเชื่อ
9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
9:31 แต่พวกอิสราเอลซึ่งใฝ่หาพระราชบัญญัติแห่งความชอบธรรม ก็ยังไม่ได้บรรลุตามพระราชบัญญัติแห่งความชอบธรรมนั้น
9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
9:32 เพราะอะไร เพราะเหตุที่เขามิได้แสวงหาโดยความเชื่อแต่แสวงหาโดยการกระทำตามพระราชบัญญัติ เขาจึงสะดุดก้อนหินที่ให้สะดุดนั้น
9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
9:33 ดังที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `จงดูเถิด เราได้วางศิลาก้อนหนึ่งไว้ในศิโยนซึ่งจะทำให้สะดุด และหินก้อนหนึ่งซึ่งจะทำให้ล้ม แต่ผู้ใดที่เชื่อในพระองค์นั้นก็จะไม่ได้รับความอับอาย'
9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
