2:1 พระองค์ทรงกระทำให้ท่านทั้งหลายมีชีวิตอยู่ แม้ว่าท่านตายแล้วโดยการละเมิดและการบาป
2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2:2 ครั้งเมื่อก่อนท่านเคยดำเนินตามวิถีของโลกนี้ตามเจ้าแห่งอำนาจในย่านอากาศ คือวิญญาณที่ครอบครองอยู่ในบุตรแห่งการไม่เชื่อฟัง
2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
2:3 เมื่อก่อนเราทั้งปวงเคยประพฤติเป็นพรรคพวกกับคนเหล่านั้นที่ประพฤติตามตัณหาของเนื้อหนังเช่นกัน คือกระทำตามความปรารถนาของเนื้อหนังและความคิดในใจ ตามสันดานเราจึงเป็นบุตรแห่งพระอาชญาเหมือนอย่างคนอื่น
2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
2:4 แต่พระเจ้า ผู้ทรงเปี่ยมด้วยพระกรุณา เพราะเหตุความรักอันใหญ่หลวง ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงรักเรานั้น
2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
2:5 ถึงแม้ว่าเมื่อเราตายไปแล้วในการบาป พระองค์ยังทรงกระทำให้เรามีชีวิตอยู่กับพระคริสต์ (ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายรอดนั้นก็รอดโดยพระคุณ)
2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
2:6 และพระองค์ทรงให้เราเป็นขึ้นมากับพระองค์ และทรงโปรดให้เรานั่งในสวรรคสถานกับพระองค์ในพระเยซูคริสต์
2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
2:7 เพื่อว่าในยุคต่อๆไป พระองค์จะได้ทรงสำแดงพระคุณของพระองค์อันอุดมเหลือล้น ในการซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงเมตตาเราในพระเยซูคริสต์
2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
2:8 ด้วยว่าซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายรอดนั้นก็รอดโดยพระคุณเพราะความเชื่อ และมิใช่โดยตัวท่านทั้งหลายเอง แต่พระเจ้าทรงประทานให้
2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
2:9 ความรอดนั้นจะเนื่องด้วยการกระทำก็หามิได้เพื่อมิให้คนหนึ่งคนใดอวดได้
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2:10 เพราะว่าเราเป็นฝีพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ ที่ทรงสร้างขึ้นในพระเยซูคริสต์ เพื่อให้ประกอบการดีซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงดำริไว้ล่วงหน้าเพื่อให้เราดำเนินตามนั้น
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
2:11 เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงระลึกว่า เมื่อก่อนท่านเคยเป็นคนต่างชาติตามเนื้อหนัง และพวกที่รับพิธีเข้าสุหนัตซึ่งกระทำแก่เนื้อหนังด้วยมือเคยเรียกท่านว่า เป็นพวกที่มิได้เข้าสุหนัต
2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
2:12 จงระลึกว่า ครั้งนั้นท่านทั้งหลายเป็นคนอยู่นอกพระคริสต์ ขาดจากการเป็นพลเมืองอิสราเอลและไม่มีส่วนในบรรดาพันธสัญญาซึ่งทรงสัญญาไว้นั้น ไม่มีที่หวัง และอยู่ในโลกปราศจากพระเจ้า
2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
2:13 แต่บัดนี้ในพระเยซูคริสต์ ท่านทั้งหลายซึ่งเมื่อก่อนอยู่ไกลได้เข้ามาใกล้โดยพระโลหิตของพระคริสต์
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
2:14 เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงเป็นสันติสุขของเรา เป็นผู้ทรงกระทำให้ทั้งสองฝ่ายเป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกัน และทรงรื้อกำแพงที่กั้นระหว่างสองฝ่ายลง
2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
2:15 และได้ทรงกำจัดการซึ่งเป็นปฏิปักษ์กันในเนื้อหนังของพระองค์ คือกฎของพระบัญญัติซึ่งให้ถือศีลต่างๆนั้น เพื่อจะกระทำให้ทั้งสองฝ่ายเป็นคนใหม่คนเดียวในพระองค์ เช่นนั้นแหละจึงทรงกระทำให้เกิดสันติสุข
2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
2:16 และเพื่อพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้ทั้งสองพวกคืนดีกับพระเจ้า เป็นกายเดียวโดยกางเขนซึ่งเป็นการทำให้การเป็นปฏิปักษ์ต่อกันหมดสิ้นไป
2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
2:17 และพระองค์ได้เสด็จมาประกาศสันติสุขแก่ท่านที่อยู่ไกล และแก่คนที่อยู่ใกล้
2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
2:18 เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงทำให้เราทั้งสองพวกมีโอกาสเข้าเฝ้าพระบิดา โดยพระวิญญาณองค์เดียวกัน
2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
2:19 เหตุฉะนั้นบัดนี้ท่านจึงไม่ใช่คนต่างด้าวต่างแดนอีกต่อไป แต่ว่าเป็นพลเมืองเดียวกันกับวิสุทธิชนและเป็นครอบครัวของพระเจ้า
2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
2:20 ท่านได้ถูกประดิษฐานขึ้นบนรากแห่งพวกอัครสาวกและพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ พระเยซูคริสต์เองทรงเป็นศิลามุมเอก
2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
2:21 ในพระองค์นั้น ทุกส่วนของโครงร่างต่อกันสนิท และเจริญขึ้นเป็นวิหารอันบริสุทธิ์ในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
2:22 และในพระองค์นั้น ท่านก็กำลังจะถูกก่อขึ้นให้เป็นที่สถิตของพระเจ้าในฝ่ายพระวิญญาณด้วย
2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
