2:1 แต่ข้าพเจ้าได้ตั้งใจไว้ว่า เมื่อมีความทุกข์อยู่ จะไม่มาหาพวกท่านอีก
2:1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
2:2 เพราะถ้าข้าพเจ้าทำให้พวกท่านเป็นทุกข์ ใครเล่าจะทำให้ข้าพเจ้ามีความยินดี ก็คือคนที่ข้าพเจ้าทำให้มีความทุกข์นั่นแหละ
2:2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
2:3 และข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนข้อความนั้นมาถึงท่าน เพื่อว่าเมื่อข้าพเจ้ามา ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ได้รับความทุกข์จากคนเหล่านั้น ที่ควรจะทำให้ข้าพเจ้ามีความชื่นชมยินดี ข้าพเจ้าไว้ใจในพวกท่านว่า ความยินดีของข้าพเจ้าก็เป็นความยินดีของท่านด้วย
2:3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
2:4 เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงท่านเพราะข้าพเจ้ามีความทุกข์ระทมใจมาก และน้ำตาไหลมากมาย มิใช่เพื่อจะทำให้ท่านเป็นทุกข์ แต่เพื่อจะให้ท่านรู้จักความรักอย่างมากมายซึ่งข้าพเจ้ามีต่อท่านทั้งหลาย
2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
2:5 แต่ถ้าผู้ใดเป็นต้นเหตุทำให้เกิดความทุกข์ ผู้นั้นก็มิได้ทำให้ข้าพเจ้าเป็นทุกข์แต่คนเดียว แต่ได้ทำให้พวกท่านเป็นทุกข์บ้างด้วย เพราะข้าพเจ้าไม่อยากจะปรักปรำพวกท่านจนเหลือเกิน
2:5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
2:6 ที่คนส่วนมากได้ลงโทษคนเช่นนั้นก็พอสมควรแล้ว
2:6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
2:7 ฉะนั้นท่านทั้งหลายควรจะยกโทษให้ผู้นั้น และปลอบประโลมใจเขาต่างหาก กลัวว่าคนเช่นนั้นจะจมลงในความทุกข์เหลือล้น
2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2:8 ดังนั้นข้าพเจ้าขอวิงวอนท่านให้ยืนยันความรักต่อคนนั้นใหม่
2:8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
2:9 นี่คือเหตุที่ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนถึงท่าน หวังจะลองใจท่านดูว่า ท่านจะยอมเชื่อฟังทุกประการหรือไม่
2:9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
2:10 ถ้าพวกท่านจะยกโทษให้ผู้ใด ข้าพเจ้าก็ยกโทษให้ผู้นั้นด้วย เพราะถ้าข้าพเจ้ายกโทษให้คนใดๆ ข้าพเจ้าได้ยกโทษให้ผู้นั้นเพราะเห็นแก่ท่านทั้งหลายต่อพระพักตร์พระคริสต์
2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
2:11 เพื่อไม่ให้ซาตานมีชัยเหนือเรา เพราะเรารู้กลอุบายของมันแล้ว
2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2:12 นอกจากนี้เมื่อข้าพเจ้าไปถึงเมืองโตรอัสเพื่อประกาศข่าวประเสริฐของพระคริสต์นั้น มีประตูเปิดให้แก่ข้าพเจ้าโดยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
2:13 ข้าพเจ้ายังไม่มีความสบายใจเลย เพราะข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้พบทิตัสน้องของข้าพเจ้าที่นั่น ข้าพเจ้าจึงลาพวกนั้นเดินทางไปยังแคว้นมาซิโดเนีย
2:13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
2:14 แต่ขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าผู้ทรงให้เรามีชัยเสมอโดยพระคริสต์ และทรงโปรดประทานกลิ่นหอมแห่งความรู้ของพระองค์ให้ปรากฏด้วยตัวเราทุกแห่ง
2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
2:15 เพราะว่าเราเป็นกลิ่นอันหอมหวานของพระคริสต์จำเพาะพระเจ้า ในหมู่คนที่รอด และในหมู่คนที่พินาศ
2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
2:16 ฝ่ายหนึ่งเป็นกลิ่นแห่งความตายซึ่งนำไปสู่ความตาย และอีกฝ่ายหนึ่งเป็นกลิ่นหอมแห่งชีวิตซึ่งนำไปสู่ชีวิต ใครเล่าจะมีความสามารถเหมาะสมกับพันธกิจเหล่านี้
2:16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
2:17 เพราะว่า เราไม่เหมือนคนเป็นอันมากที่ทำให้พระวจนะของพระเจ้าเสื่อมเสีย แต่ว่าเราประกาศโดยอาศัยพระคริสต์ด้วยความจริงใจ อย่างคนที่มาจากพระเจ้าและอยู่ในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้า
2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
