4:1 แล้วข้าพเจ้าขอพูดว่า ตราบใดที่ทายาทยังเป็นเด็กอยู่เขาก็ไม่ต่างอะไรกับทาสเลย ถึงแม้เขาจะเป็นเจ้าของทรัพย์สมบัติทั้งปวง
4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
4:2 แต่เขาก็อยู่ใต้บังคับของผู้ปกครองและผู้ดูแล จนถึงเวลาที่บิดาได้กำหนดไว้
4:2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
4:3 ฝ่ายเราก็เหมือนกัน เมื่อเป็นเด็กอยู่ เราก็เป็นทาสอยู่ใต้บังคับโลกธรรม
4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4:4 แต่เมื่อครบกำหนดแล้ว พระเจ้าก็ทรงใช้พระบุตรของพระองค์มาประสูติจากสตรีเพศ และทรงถือกำเนิดใต้พระราชบัญญัติ
4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
4:5 เพื่อจะทรงไถ่คนเหล่านั้นที่อยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติ เพื่อให้เราได้รับฐานะเป็นบุตร
4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
4:6 และเพราะท่านเป็นบุตรแล้ว พระเจ้าจึงทรงใช้พระวิญญาณแห่งพระบุตรของพระองค์เข้ามาในใจของท่าน ร้องว่า "อับบา" คือพระบิดา
4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
4:7 เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจึงไม่ใช่ทาสอีกต่อไป แต่เป็นบุตร และถ้าเป็นบุตรแล้วท่านก็เป็นทายาทของพระเจ้าโดยทางพระคริสต์
4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
4:8 แต่ก่อนนี้เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายยังไม่รู้จักพระเจ้า ท่านเป็นทาสของสิ่งซึ่งโดยสภาพแล้วไม่ใช่พระเลย
4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
4:9 แต่บัดนี้เมื่อท่านรู้จักพระเจ้าแล้ว หรือที่ถูกก็คือพระเจ้าทรงรู้จักท่านแล้ว เหตุไฉนท่านจึงจะกลับไปหาโลกธรรมซึ่งอ่อนแอและอนาถา และอยากจะเป็นทาสของสิ่งเหล่านั้นอีก
4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
4:10 ท่านถือวัน เดือน ฤดู และปี
4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
4:11 ข้าพเจ้าเกรงว่าการที่ข้าพเจ้าได้ทำเพื่อท่านนั้นจะไร้ประโยชน์
4:11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
4:12 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าวิงวอนให้ท่านเป็นเหมือนข้าพเจ้า เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้าก็ได้เป็นอย่างท่านแล้วเหมือนกัน ท่านไม่ได้ทำผิดต่อข้าพเจ้าเลย
4:12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
4:13 ท่านรู้ว่าตอนแรกที่ข้าพเจ้าประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแก่ท่านนั้น ก็ทำโดยความอ่อนกำลังแห่งเนื้อหนัง
4:13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
4:14 และการทดลองของข้าพเจ้าซึ่งอยู่ในเนื้อหนังของข้าพเจ้า ท่านก็ไม่ได้ดูหมิ่นหรือปฏิเสธ แต่ได้ต้อนรับข้าพเจ้าเหมือนกับว่าเป็นทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเจ้า หรือเหมือนกับพระเยซูคริสต์
4:14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
4:15 ความปลื้มใจที่ท่านได้กล่าวไว้ไปอยู่ที่ไหนเสียแล้ว เพราะข้าพเจ้าเป็นพยานให้ท่านได้ว่า ถ้าเป็นไปได้ท่านก็คงจะควักตาของท่านออกให้ข้าพเจ้า
4:15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
4:16 ข้าพเจ้าจึงได้กลายเป็นศัตรูของท่านเพราะข้าพเจ้าบอกความจริงแก่ท่านหรือ
4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
4:17 คนเหล่านั้นเอาอกเอาใจท่าน แต่ไม่ใช่ด้วยความหวังดีเลย เขาอยากจะกีดกันพวกท่านเพื่อท่านจะได้เอาอกเอาใจพวกเขา
4:17 They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.
4:18 การเอาอกเอาใจด้วยความหวังดีก็เป็นการดีตลอดไป ไม่ใช่เฉพาะแต่เมื่อข้าพเจ้าอยู่กับพวกท่านเท่านั้น
4:18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.
4:19 ลูกน้อยของข้าพเจ้าเอ๋ย ข้าพเจ้าต้องเจ็บปวดเพราะท่านอีกจนกว่าพระคริสต์จะได้ทรงก่อร่างขึ้นในตัวท่าน
4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
4:20 ข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาจะอยู่กับพวกท่านเดี๋ยวนี้ และเปลี่ยนน้ำเสียงของข้าพเจ้า เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้ามีข้อสงสัยในตัวท่าน
4:20 I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
4:21 ท่านที่อยากอยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติ ท่านไม่ได้ฟังพระราชบัญญัติหรือ จงบอกข้าพเจ้าเถิด
4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
4:22 เพราะมีเขียนไว้ว่า อับราฮัมมีบุตรชายสองคน คนหนึ่งเกิดจากหญิงทาสี อีกคนหนึ่งเกิดจากหญิงที่เป็นไทย
4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
4:23 บุตรที่เกิดจากหญิงทาสีนั้นก็เกิดตามเนื้อหนัง แต่ส่วนบุตรที่เกิดจากหญิงที่เป็นไทยนั้นเกิดตามพระสัญญา
4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
4:24 ข้อความนี้เป็นอุปไมย ผู้หญิงสองคนนั้นได้แก่พันธสัญญาสองอย่าง คนหนึ่งมาจากภูเขาซีนาย คลอดลูกเป็นทาส คือ นางฮาการ์
4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
4:25 นางฮาการ์นั้นได้แก่ภูเขาซีนายในประเทศอาระเบีย ตรงกับกรุงเยรูซาเล็มปัจจุบัน เพราะกรุงนี้กับพลเมืองเป็นทาสอยู่
4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
4:26 แต่ว่ากรุงเยรูซาเล็มซึ่งอยู่เบื้องบนนั้นเป็นไทย เป็นมารดาของเราทั้งปวง
4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
4:27 เพราะมีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `จงชื่นชมยินดีเถิด หญิงหมันผู้ไม่คลอดบุตร จงเปล่งเสียงโห่ร้อง เจ้าผู้ไม่ได้เจ็บครรภ์ ด้วยว่าหญิงที่ต้องอยู่อย่างโดดเดี่ยวก็ยังมีบุตรมากกว่าหญิงที่ยังมีสามีอยู่กับนางมากมายนัก'
4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
4:28 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย บัดนี้เราเป็นบุตรแห่งพระสัญญาเช่นเดียวกับอิสอัค
4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
4:29 แต่ในครั้งนั้นผู้ที่เกิดตามเนื้อหนังได้ข่มเหงผู้ที่เกิดตามพระวิญญาณฉันใด ปัจจุบันนี้ก็เหมือนกันฉันนั้น
4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
4:30 แต่พระคัมภีร์ว่าอย่างไร ก็ว่า `จงไล่หญิงทาสีกับบุตรชายของนางไปเสียเถิด เพราะว่าบุตรชายของหญิงทาสีจะเป็นผู้รับมรดกร่วมกับบุตรชายของหญิงที่เป็นไทยไม่ได้'
4:30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
4:31 เหตุฉะนั้น พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราไม่ใช่บุตรของหญิงทาสี แต่เป็นบุตรของหญิงที่เป็นไทย
4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
