16:1 พวกฟาริสีกับพวกสะดูสีได้มาทดลองพระองค์โดยขอร้องให้พระองค์สำแดงหมายสำคัญจากฟ้าสวรรค์ให้เขาเห็น
16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
16:2 พระองค์จึงตรัสตอบเขาว่า "พอตกเย็นท่านทั้งหลายพูดว่า `รุ่งขึ้นอากาศจะโปร่งดีเพราะฟ้าสีแดง'
16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
16:3 ในเวลาเช้าท่านพูดว่า `วันนี้จะเกิดพายุฝนเพราะฟ้าแดงและมัว' โอ คนหน้าซื่อใจคด ท้องฟ้านั้นท่านทั้งหลายยังอาจสังเกตรู้และเข้าใจได้ แต่หมายสำคัญแห่งกาลนี้ท่านกลับไม่เข้าใจ
16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
16:4 คนชาติชั่วและเล่นชู้แสวงหาหมายสำคัญ และจะไม่โปรดให้หมายสำคัญแก่เขา เว้นไว้แต่หมายสำคัญของโยนาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์เท่านั้น" แล้วพระองค์ก็เสด็จไปจากเขา
16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
16:5 ฝ่ายพวกสาวกของพระองค์ เมื่อข้ามฟากนั้นได้ลืมเอาขนมปังไปด้วย
16:5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
16:6 พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงสังเกตและระวังเชื้อแห่งพวกฟาริสีและพวกสะดูสีให้ดี"
16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
16:7 เหล่าสาวกจึงปรึกษากันว่า "เพราะเหตุที่เรามิได้เอาขนมปังมา"
16:7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
16:8 ฝ่ายพระเยซูทรงทราบจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "โอ ผู้มีความเชื่อน้อย เหตุไฉนพวกท่านจึงปรึกษากันและกันถึงเรื่องไม่ได้เอาขนมปังมา
16:8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
16:9 ท่านยังไม่เข้าใจและจำไม่ได้หรือ เรื่องขนมปังห้าก้อนกับคนห้าพันคนนั้น ท่านเก็บที่เหลือได้กี่กระบุง
16:9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
16:10 หรือขนมปังเจ็ดก้อนกับคนสี่พันคนนั้น ท่านเก็บที่เหลือได้กี่กระบุง
16:10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
16:11 เป็นไฉนพวกท่านถึงไม่เข้าใจว่า เรามิได้พูดกับท่านด้วยเรื่องขนมปัง แต่ได้ว่าให้ท่านระวังเชื้อแห่งพวกฟาริสีและพวกสะดูสีให้ดี"
16:11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
16:12 แล้วพวกสาวกก็เข้าใจว่า พระองค์มิได้ตรัสสั่งเขาให้ระวังเชื้อขนมปัง แต่ให้ระวังคำสอนของพวกฟาริสีและพวกสะดูสี
16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
16:13 ครั้นพระเยซูเสด็จเข้าไปในเขตเมืองซีซารียาฟีลิปปี พระองค์จึงตรัสถามพวกสาวกของพระองค์ว่า "คนทั้งหลายพูดกันว่าเราซึ่งเป็นบุตรมนุษย์คือผู้ใด"
16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
16:14 เขาจึงทูลตอบว่า "บางคนว่าเป็นยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา แต่บางคนว่าเป็นเอลียาห์ และคนอื่นว่าเป็นเยเรมีย์ หรือเป็นคนหนึ่งในพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์"
16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
16:15 พระองค์ตรัสถามเขาว่า "แล้วพวกท่านเล่า ว่าเราเป็นผู้ใด"
16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16:16 ซีโมนเปโตรทูลตอบว่า "พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระคริสต์พระบุตรของพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์อยู่"
16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
16:17 พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ซีโมนบุตรโยนาเอ๋ย ท่านก็เป็นสุข เพราะว่าเนื้อหนังและโลหิตมิได้แจ้งความนี้แก่ท่าน แต่พระบิดาของเราผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ทรงแจ้งให้ทราบ
16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
16:18 ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านด้วยว่า ท่านคือเปโตร และบนศิลานี้เราจะสร้างคริสตจักรของเราไว้ และประตูแห่งนรกจะมีชัยต่อคริสตจักรนั้นก็หามิได้
16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
16:19 เราจะมอบลูกกุญแจของอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ให้ไว้แก่ท่าน ท่านจะผูกมัดสิ่งใดในโลก สิ่งนั้นก็จะถูกมัดในสวรรค์ และท่านจะปล่อยสิ่งใดในโลก สิ่งนั้นจะถูกปล่อยในสวรรค์"
16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
16:20 แล้วพระองค์ทรงกำชับห้ามเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ มิให้บอกผู้ใดว่า พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเยซูพระคริสต์ผู้นั้น
16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
16:21 ตั้งแต่เวลานั้นมา พระเยซูทรงเริ่มเผยแก่เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า พระองค์จะต้องเสด็จไปกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และจะต้องทนทุกข์ทรมานหลายประการจากพวกผู้ใหญ่และพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่และพวกธรรมาจารย์ จนต้องถูกประหารเสีย แต่ในวันที่สามจะทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาใหม่
16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
16:22 ฝ่ายเปโตรเอามือจับพระองค์ เริ่มทูลท้วงพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ให้เหตุการณ์นั้นอยู่ห่างไกลจากพระองค์เถิด อย่าให้เป็นอย่างนั้นแก่พระองค์เลย"
16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
16:23 พระองค์จึงหันพระพักตร์ตรัสกับเปโตรว่า "อ้ายซาตาน จงถอยไปข้างหลังเรา เจ้าเป็นเครื่องกีดขวางเรา เพราะเจ้ามิได้คิดตามพระดำริของพระเจ้า แต่ตามความคิดของมนุษย์"
16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
16:24 ขณะนั้นพระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าผู้ใดใคร่ตามเรามา ให้ผู้นั้นเอาชนะตัวเอง และรับกางเขนของตนแบกและตามเรามา
16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
16:25 เพราะว่าผู้ใดใคร่จะเอาชีวิตของตนรอด ผู้นั้นจะเสียชีวิต แต่ผู้ใดจะเสียชีวิตของตนเพราะเห็นแก่เรา ผู้นั้นจะได้ชีวิตรอด
16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
16:26 เพราะถ้าผู้ใดจะได้สิ่งของสิ้นทั้งโลก แต่ต้องสูญเสียจิตวิญญาณของตน ผู้นั้นจะได้ประโยชน์อะไร หรือผู้นั้นจะนำอะไรไปแลกเอาจิตวิญญาณของตนกลับคืนมา
16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
16:27 เหตุว่าบุตรมนุษย์จะเสด็จมาด้วยสง่าราศีแห่งพระบิดา และพร้อมด้วยเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์ เมื่อนั้นพระองค์จะประทานบำเหน็จแก่ทุกคนตามการกระทำของตน
16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
16:28 เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ในพวกท่านที่ยืนอยู่ที่นี่ มีบางคนที่ยังจะไม่รู้รสความตาย จนกว่าจะได้เห็นบุตรมนุษย์เสด็จมาในราชอาณาจักรของท่าน"
16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
